Super Moon

Last night there was a Super Moon... I almost completely forgot about it, so by the time I remembered and grabbed the camera, it was already pretty high in the sky (but that didnt stop me for taking pictures anyway!)  After some clever editing in CS5 I managed to come up with this image (the moon is mine, the rest are night sky and some cloud overlays and me playing around with the brushes and dabbing in stars to make it a complete image) Under my edited version is the original image I shot off my back deck.

2014 Changes

As part of my new year resolution,  I have decided to make a few changes that will impact how I run this business.  I will no longer edit pictures or answer messages when my children are home.  I will set aside a time when my kids are not awake or not here to answer emails or do edits.  I will not be working on edits on the weekends, and my weekend appointments will be limited to mornings only,  so that I will have the rest of the day to spend with my family.  I also will no longer be stressing myself out to get edits done faster than my allotted time frame or squeeze people in once I'm booked, completely over extending myself in the process, all because people didn't plan ahead to get on my calendar before my calendar was full.  I tried to do this last year and failed miserably, stressing myself and my family out by overbooking to squeeze in last minute appointments, constantly editing or answering emails and basically always having my eyes on my computer screen or behind a lens, missing the two most important people in my life growing up without me even noticing, because I was busy watching everyone else's children behind my lens.   While  I do love seeing my clients return each session and watch their children grow up behind my lens,  I also realized that I need to make it a personal goal of mine to unplug, unwind and spend quality time with my own children,  because while I was busy capturing your memories, I realized I was missing out on my own.   They are only little for so long, and I don't want to miss another moment of their lives.  I hope everyone (especially people with children of their own)  can understand that appointments will be far more limited this year.   I am a mom first, and a business owner second.  Book early enough to ensure a spot, because once my available spots are gone, they are gone.  Thank you for understanding!
As this year is coming to an end, I want to thank all of my wonderful clients for choosing me as your photographer and allowing me to capture your moments. I am honored to see past clients return and to have met so many new clients this year as well. It was a pleasure to photograph all of you. 2013 was one of my busiest years yet and I have my incredible clients to thank for that. I'm looking forward to 2014 and another great year watching your children grow up behind my lens. Happy New Year!
